Military Medical Academy at the 61st International Congress of Cardiovascular and Endovascular Surgery

Representatives of the MMA’s Clinic for Vascular and Endovascular Surgery attended 61. International Congress of Cardiovascular and Endovascular Surgery, organized by European Society for Cardiovascular Surgery. The Congress took place in Dubrovnik, Republic of Croatia from April 26-28, 2012.
Around 1,500 participants from the world took part in work of the Congress, and among them more than 500 lecturers. Military Medical Academy was presented at this most important European Annual Meeting with six lectures of the head of the MMA’s Clinic for Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, Lt. Col. Asst. Prof. Aleksandar Tomić, M.D., Ph.D and the head of the MMA’s Vascular and Endovascular Ward Lt. Col. Ivan Marjanović, M.D., Ph.D. Papers, established as a result of multidisciplinary approach and team’s work of the MMA’s physicians (in vascular surgery, urology, cardiosurgery, anesthesiology, emergency and internal medicine, etc.) included the following topics:
1. Multidisciplinary Treatment of Renal Cell Carcinoma with Tumor Thrombus in Vena Cava
2. Endovascular reconstruction of AAA in patients with malignancy, strategy and tactics-our four year experience
3. “Back table” Surgery in Organ Transplantation
4. Immune response and renal function in abdominal aortic aneurysm repair - comparison between endovascular and open surgery
5. Compartment Syndrome in Vascular Trauma of Lower and Upper Extremities
6. The use of blood and blood products to the ground of “Point ofCare” analysis during the surgical treatment in patients withruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm- preliminary results.
Membership of Prof. Dr. Fraser from Houston, USA, one of the pioneer in world contemporary cardiosurgery and physician who invented artificial heart and the first in the world to perform its implantation gave a special note to the Congress.
